20/10/25 – purr point production briefing
I went to this only since I wanted to know more about the brief, which was nice as Sam from Purr Point Production spoke about the studio’s journey with their games, and it was also nice to meet students from different courses, like the games design people. However, I didn’t go with this live brief after the online meeting only since I was on GCS, Isobel’s live brief and will be considering the sips as well in a collab group with Jocasta ( BA Animation) and Trisha ( BA Animation), but I am still waiting for the online meeting on the 4th of November.
SIPS
For SIPs, I plan to work in a group with two other DPS students, Jocasta Chu and Trisha Nicomedas and possibly if there are other sound students doing SIPs as well.
We started off by looking at the different UN sustainability goals and the creative conscious themes, and which of those we wanted to focus on and made a mindmap based on those points and other design points.

Currently, our idea explores AI rising in current times and how this may affect people’s lives, so similarly to Anna Mantzaris ‘Enough’, we plan to structure our film like that, with shorts showing these difficulties. and as well as it being like an interview, for example, like ‘creature comforts’
10/12/25– pitching to peers with completed pitch deck
Our initial idea is d.AI.ly commute – following a character on their way to work as they encounter the small changes within daily life that AI has replaced, to find out once they’re at work that the boss hired a robot.
We are planning to make this a fully 2d film, but have the robot be in 3d so it feels out of place, similarly to how it is in real life.
Apart from thinking about the story, we also thought about a studio name for our group that we plan to use to market this project to find voice actors, as well as just posting behind-the-scenes content/ breakdown of our production process.
Feedback that was mainly given was that we definitely need an opinion for this, not just like a broad statement, like AI is good or it’s bad. can’t really have so much of a neutral stance on it.
Make sure to spend a good amount on research and don’t rush it, as it’s like the foundation, since it’s not only just people being made redundant, that is a cause, but also maybe how people are losing their cognitive ability to think for themselves. Also, research on the other uses of AI (the more ethical and good uses)
preparing for the pitch with creative conscience on the 30th Jan
My two other co-directors and I worked a lot on our pitch deck. I was in charge of the character designs and other concept ideas, whilst Trisha and Jocasta were in charge of the storyboard. From our previous idea with the daily commute, the story is now focused less on the MC’s commute to work and more on her workplace and how AI changes her livelihood. I would say we, as co-directors, work well together and stay organised and communicate well, whether it be a suggestion on each other’s ideas or just in terms of organising weekly meetups to discuss the storyline and concepts further. As well as working together as directors, we also recruited help from our peers, which was really helpful in terms of our workload, though I would say since we all have different schedules, it did become a bit challenging to get in contact with some people and see where they’re at with some of the tasks we set them. But overall, at this point of the project, it’s working well, and I would say this SIP is quite similar to a grad film, so it’s preparing me for work dynamics for the final year.

30/01/26 – final pitch to Eddy (creative conscience)
The feedback we were given based on the work itself was that the concept work was well received, mainly needing to shorten the duration of the film, as some ideas in scenes were quite similar, so it’s better to condense them and have fewer but more solid scenes. As well, maybe thinking of having a hopeful ending. Apart from that, we also received feedback regarding our presenting – less hiding and more confidence in presenting and showing our passion for our work. I’ll try to take this forward into future presentations.
Feedback we got from Nicky
After the pitching with Eddy, we came away with that and also asked Nicky for her feedback on the animatic we had and similarly to what Maliha and Eddy had mentioned, the length was definitely too long, and we had similar scenes that ran where we could just condense it onto a scene. We reflected on what Nicky had said and adjusted our story so that all the aspects of AI being shown were in the first section, and then the middle section would focus on her initial job and the robot, and then she would get fired. The main change comes in the ending, where after she gets fired and walks out with her things, she bumps into another person who owns a studio and ends the film with a much happier ending with the MC than working with that new studio, where human creativity is rewarded. At this point, we are going to make a beat board of key moments and send it to get more feedback to make an updated animatic.
Currently, as my two other co-directors and I have other briefs and projects we are working on, it’s become a bit tricky to also fit working on SIPS as well, since SIPS is still currently at the pre-production stage. We are pushing it off until we have time, and also since we haven’t started production for it yet. And also, since we have helpers for this film too, we are unsure that they’re able to have enough time to work on it, even if we were in production.
