Dps 2025-2026

Blink Industries – 09/02/26

We had our briefing with Nicola Strina, who was in the games section of Blink. My initial thoughts for the brief we got given were that it was a fun challenge to try to work within the style of Nippets (the game we are promoting), but also not altering the actual logo so that it wouldn’t be legible. Since we had to go off into teams, my teammate Leila and I thought having two people was just enough since the brief calls for the animation itself to loop and also be around 2 seconds long, so I think it’s quite a simple project, though I wouldn’t want to do it independently. Also, having just one other person makes it easier to communicate in terms of meetings to discuss the project and also splitting the work or doing it together.

So far, the project is going well and getting on the right track. Most of the current work we are doing together is on the initial ideas and animatics, and we plan to split the workload once our idea is greenlit by Nico during the midpoint review and we know what our final product will look like.

current schedule as of 22/02

Our feedback from Nicola was to add more animals and incorporate more of the winter scenery into the other parts of the letters, as currently it was a bit too plain and didn’t match a lot within the winter map

Leila and I had split the work pretty evenly, though there were some parts I had to do as Leila’s schedule was a bit busier than mine, so I was happy to animate those other sections. The feedback overall from our weekly meetings was all pretty positive, though during the stage of rough animation, there were just a few animation fixes that I needed to do, and with nickys guidenace i was able to understand it better, which overall I’m happy with the outcome as it definitely looks smoother. Also since we weren’t given a lot of reference for the winter map and also since we didn’t have the playable demo like the spring map did there was quite a bit that we ended up doing without a clear refenrce as the image provided in the brief had no people or animals in it though luckily we managed to find gifs and images online that included those which in the end we did our best to replicate what we saw in our logo.

Overall, I’m very happy with the outcome of our animation; both Leila and I think we did a really good job at replicating the game, and also, the animation itself looks smooth. I think if we were able to redo this, I would have definitely done the logo on a bigger canvas, so the logo wouldn’t be that pixilated, though the final version isn’t, and it’s done to the aspect ratio they asked us in the brief, it would have been nicer to make it bigger. But I’m glad I was able to work on this project as well, since before this I hadn’t really done any animation from start to finish, as it was mostly cleanup so it was nice to practice, and also i was happy that I was able to figure out some of the wave principle as that’s what i find quite tricky to do.
